Environmental advocate appointed to Air Resources Board

With 35 years’ experience working in the environmental justice community Diane Takvorian was the choice of California Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins, D-78th District, to serve on the California Air Resources Board. Takvorian was appointed on Feb. 4.

“I am pleased I have found such an outstanding candidate to serve,” Atkins said in a press release. “Diane has developed a proven track record of protecting public health in disadvantaged communities. I trust Diane will provide strong leadership in ensuring that environmental justice communities are represented.” AB 1288, authored by Atkins in 2015, requires two additional members to the board from disadvantaged communities bringing the membership to 14.
